Es war schon auf den alten mechanischen Schreibmaschinen sichtbar. Seit Jahrzehnten finden Sie das Symbol auf dem 3 Schlüssel. Schauen Sie sich nur diese IMB Tastutur aus dem Jahre 1984 an. Zum Beispiel:  “Code eingeben und mit der Raute-Taste bestätigen”. Ich bin nun schon seit einiger Zeit Teil der digitalen Welt und Ich kann Euch versichern, das der Hashtag noch vor dem Jahr 2007 eher selten eingesetzt wurde. Er wurde verwendet für Ordnungszahlen oder auch im Schach, quasi kurz vor Schach-Matt. Der Hashtag wurde eigentlich erst so richtig populär, als Twitter im Jahr 2007 auf kam und ihn einsetzte um seine Tweets zu organisieren. Twitter war natürlich noch relativ unbekannt. Ich erinnere mich noch an dass Gespräch mit meinem ehemaligen Arbeitgeber, denn er fragte mich verwundert: “Brauchen wir das wirklich…..?”   ### Hashtag, um Geschichten zu organisieren Dann aber explodierte Twitter. Die Plattform verwandelte sich in eine Revolution und veröffentlichte Nachrichten schneller als jedes andere Medium! Doch leider gab es keine Möglichkeit, all diese Geschichten zu organiseren. Twitter musste darauf ganz schnell reagieren. Man hatte schon über ein Symbol nachgedacht. Chris Messina war jener mit der Idee das “#” als Symbol zu verwenden. Er wird heute als der Erfinder des Hashtag Symbols gehandelt.   Es dauerte noch einige Zeit, bis das Symbol ein fester Bestandteil von Twitter wurde. Bis 2009 wurde auch auf anderen Internet-Plattformen, wie Instagram und Facebook, sehr häufig verwendet. Ein Hashtag ist so viel mehr als sein Suchbegriff. Er ist heute ein geläufiger Begriff. Der Hashtag bietet den eigentlichen Kontext zum Tweet.
