Auch in der Film- und Fernsehindustrie sind viele Logos physisch produziert worden, um diese filmen zu können. Einige Fernsehsender und Fimstudios gingen noch weiter und entwarfen dreidimensionale Logos um spezielle Effekte zu erzielen. Das berühmteste Beispiel ist wohl das Logo von MGM: Leo the Lion, welches erstmalig im Jahr 1916 erschien. https://youtu.be/ue7MbfcW6nE Leo the Lion ist das Maskottchen der Hollywood Filmstudios Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer und einer seiner Vorgänger, den Goldwyn Pictures. Im Laufe der letzten Jahrzehnte wurden 7 verschiedene Löwen eingesetzt. Nur der siebte wird Leo genannt. Leo ist der mit Abstand am längsten von MGM benutze Löwe und er erscheint seit 1957 in den meisten MGM Filmen. Er hat eigentlich holländischen Vorfahren: er ist geboren im Royal Burgers Zoo in Arnheim! In den 60er Jahren wurde der Zoo für sein Löwen Zuchtprogramm berühmt. Leo war auch der jüngste Löwe der Gruppe, als MGM ihn für den Einsatz im MGM Logo filmte (daher ist seine Mähne so klein). Um den Bekanntheitsgrad der Filmproduktionen zu erhöhen, wurde im Jahr 1927 der Löwe als ‘Leo the MGM Flying Lion’ in den USA rumgeflogen. Speziell für den Löwen wurde das Flugzeug umgebaut mit Tanks für Wasser und extra Benzin, sowie mit einem Käfig in dem der Löwe sicher transportiert wurde. Das Flugzeug verunglückte während eines fünfstündigen Fluges von San Diego nach New York in der Wüste von Arizona. Alle Insassen überlebten zum Glück den Absturz. Bevor der Pilot Martin Jenson Hilfe holen ging, sperrte er den Löwen mit etwas Milch, Wasser und Brot in den Käfig. Nach 4 Tagen wurde Martin gefunden und zu einem Telefon gebracht. Er rief MGM an und die erste Frage lautete: wie geht es dem Löwen? Dieses Logo wurde nur bei 3 Filmen eingesetzt. Danach beschloss man doch wieder das alte Logo zu benutzen. Es ist doch bemerkenswert, dass ein Logo inzwischen 100 Jahre alt ist und alle Veränderungen in der Zeit überstanden hat!
